“Alone pretending to be next to me. There has been no one like him anywhere. When I lose my way I close my eyes and he has found me.” Les Miserables is one of the longest musical comedies and novels in which the revolution and some reflections on the nature of mercy and justice that people want to achieve. This novel shows the history of France and their culture. In France the city of love now, all women prostitute themselves and will do anything for money. This review will focus on a girl who is willing to be better for the guy she loves. Are you willing to be redeemed for them to accept and love who you are?

Thénardier’s daughter, Eponine, who is 16 but has the hoarse, unhealthy voice of an old woman. From an early age her parents spoiled her so much because her parents are so blind with her money. Her mother is a prostitute, so she can earn money. Growing up, they became poor because Valjean adopted Cosette for a money exchange. They spent all the money and became penniless, so they had to move into a small apartment. She met Marius, a law student who lives next door to them and who left behind her wealthy father. When she meets Marius for the first time, she breaks into her room and asks for money. They approach and Eponine falls in love with Marius, her prince charming. She is willing to be nice of her to point her out, but her prince has seen Cosette and asked her if she knows where she is. Even though she is very painful of her, she is willing to help him. She leads Marius to Valjean’s house where Cosette lives. She waited for the other to say to testify how Marius and Cosette tell each other their feelings for each other. She saw that her her father and her henchmen wanted to rob Valjean’s house, but she screamed for someone to hear. She shows courage when her father threatens her. She saw the letter Cosette left for Marius, he took it to give it to her. She is willing to save Cosette even though she has a good reason to hate her rival, but she is willing to save her because she would make Marius happy. Walk then the rain falls as if heaven knows what she feels and then she sings her feelings about her. Martyr? Perhaps. Before she could deliver the letter to him, she had taken a bullet for him. She uses her last breath and her last words to tell him how she always felt for him by saying “You know, Monsieur Marius, I think I’m a little in love with you.” What’s different about Eponine that makes her keep a little goodness, when her parents are literally the scum of the earth?

Eponine symbolizes redemption, great patriotism and rain. She has changed because she is willing to be better, so Marius will notice her. She will give everything for her loved ones even if she receives nothing in return. It is like rain even if the sky falls and it can feel hopeless and sad there is always a rainbow after the storm, there is another day and another hope. She is one of the most tragic and heroic figures in the novel.

The film I miserabili deserves a round of applause. It’s very inspiring, but some parts are tragic. It also shows many traits that people can reflect on. It conveys the message that anyone can change for the better as long as they are willing and love conquers everyone. The novel was brought to Broadway is a really good choice. He would have won numerous awards because the artist justified the characters. Decades pass when Jean Valjean breaks his probation and takes a young girl named Cosette under his protection and remains on the run from Javert all the time; all as the French Revolution will happen. The production, the designs, the costumes and the film itself are handled brilliantly. The audience felt they were back in France, but still has the feeling of watching a musical on stage. The actors own their scenes like when Eponine sang “On my own”. Overall the film is a great film and they got the message across to the audience. We all feel the excitement of the film and every scene is worth watching. However they should give Eponine a little more stage because her story is super youth, appearances and marriage. They also include symbolisms such as the yellow ticket when Valjean finally gets out of prison, they have given him a yellow ticket which is a ticket to freedom but is more like a ticket to an unhappy life because the ticket symbolizes social rejection. The silver candlesticks symbolize Bishop Myriel’s goodness and willingness to help the poor. Cosette’s doll symbolizes a transformation or a change that is about to take place in her life, when Valjean visited her for the first time he gave her an expensive doll. It was a great movie and a novel, kudos to the artist, writer, director and all the people who made Les Mirerables.
